Soft & Crusty Bread

  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tsp salt
  • ¾ tsp rapid active yeast
  • 1½ cups water
  1. Whisk flour, salt, and yeast together in a large bowl.
  2. Add water and combine with a spatula.
  3. Cover with moist towel and set aside for 12 hours.
  4. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
  5. Place a dutch oven with a lid inside heated oven for 30 minutes.
  6. Shape dough into a ball on a floured surface.
  7. Cover with plastic wrap and let set until pot is hot.
  8. Remove hot pot from the oven and place dough ball inside.
  9. Cover pot and bake for 30 minutes.
  10. Remove lid and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  11. Place bread on a cooling rack and let cool for 10-15 minutes before cutting into.
