Vanilla Cinnamon Apple Sticky Buns

For truly sticky sticky buns, double the topping.
  • BUNS: 2 cups Milk
  • ½ cup Sugar
  • ½ cup Oil
  • 1 tbsp Vanilla Bean Paste
  • 4 tsp Active Dry Yeast
  • 4 cups Flour
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp Baking Soda
  • ½ tsp Baking Powder
  • ½ cup Melted Butter
  • 2-4 tbsp Cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp Vanilla Bean Paste
  • STICKY TOPPING: 1 stick Butter
  • 1½ cup Brown Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Dark Brown Corn Syrup
  • 2 tbsp Heavy Cream (or milk)
  • 1 tbsp Vanilla Bean Paste
  • 1 Green Apple, peeled and diced
  • Chopped Pecans, optional
  • FROSTING: 1 package cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 3 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Bean Paste
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Juice from 1 Lemon Wedge
  1. Start with the Bun Dough: Heat milk, sugar, oil, and vanilla bean paste in a sauce pan until warm, do not bring to boil.
  2. Pour into large bowl and add in yeast and flour.
  3. Stir together gently until combined.
  4. Cover with a towel and let rise in a warm dark place for 1 hour.
  5. Knead in the salt, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
  6. Start the sticky topping: Place stick of butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, heavy cream, and vanilla paste in a saucepan over low heat.
  7. Combine sauce together well and bring to a boil for 30 seconds and remove from heat.
  8. Pour into 2 round cake pans or two 8x8 baking dishes.
  9. Sprinkle the diced apple and pecans on the sticky topping.
  10. Split dough in half and roll out one half into a large rectangle.
  11. Cover with half the melted butter, 1 tbsp vanilla bean paste, and 1-2 tbsp of cinnamon.
  12. Roll up lengthwise into a long roll and slice into even sized buns.
  13. Place buns in 1 pan and repeat for the second half of the dough.
  14. Allow buns to rise in pan for 20 minutes.
  15. Preheat oven to 375 F.
  16. Cover buns with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  17. Remove the foil during last 5 minutes of baking.
  18. Prepare frosting by combining all 6 ingredients in a mixing bowl and whip them up into a delicious frosting.
  19. Once Buns are done baking, immediately invert the baking pan on a serving plate and serve warm!
