Classic Cheesy Mac & Cheese

The perfect side dish for a turkey or ham dinner.
  • 8 ounces of elbow macaroni
  • 5 tbsp butter
  • 4 tbsp flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp ground pepper
  • 3 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Cook and drain macaroni according to package directions and set aside.
  3. In a large pan melt butter.
  4. Add in flour, salt, and pepper-whisking until well blended.
  5. Pour in milk and cream while whisking.
  6. Bring mixture to a boil and boil for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  7. Reduce heat to low and continue to stir for 10 minutes.
  8. Add cheese and stir until melted and smooth.
  9. Take mixture off heat.
  10. Add macaroni noodles to cheese sauce and coat well.
  11. Place in a lightly buttered baking dish and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
  12. Bake 25 minutes or until top is golden.
